Frequently asked questions

What insurance do you accept?

I am in network with several major commercial plans in Arizona and Oregon, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Cigna/Evernorth, and UnitedHealthcare/Optum.

Because insurance participation can change, please contact the office or your insurance plan to confirm your specific coverage and in-network status before your visit.

Do you accept Oregon Health Plan (OHP)?

I work with many Oregon Health Plan (OHP) options, and in some cases I am able to bill certain plans on an out-of-network or fee-for-service basis (for example, some “open card” situations or specific community plans).

Coverage and payment arrangements vary by plan and region, and some contracts are still being finalized, so OHP is always verified on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out with your OHP information so we can review your options together.

What if you’re out of network with my plan?

If I am not in network with your plan, you may still be able to see me and use out-of-network benefits.

I can provide a detailed SuperBill that you can submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network coverage and deductible.

Do you accept FSA/HSA?

Yes, I accept most FSA and HSA cards from major payment networks (for example, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express).

You can also use your visit receipts or SuperBills for your own FSA/HSA records as needed.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

At this time, I do not offer a sliding scale, as it is challenging to apply exceptions fairly to everyone.

I strive to keep my rates consistent and transparent for all my patients.

Why work with you if insurance doesn’t cover everything?

Choosing to work with me means getting a personalized, relationship-centered approach to your care that goes beyond what insurance typically covers.

I use a combination of biological and psychological assessments—ranging from in-depth computer evaluations to specialized testing and, when appropriate, genetic testing—to help guide more effective, individualized treatment.

PMHNP vs Psychiatrist: what’s the difference?

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists both assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions with medication and psychotherapy, though our training paths differ.

Nurse Practitioners are trained under a nursing model, which emphasizes a holistic, person-centered approach to care, while Psychiatrists follow a medical model with a more traditional physician training route.

What is integrative psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry combines evidence-based traditional treatments, like medications, with complementary approaches that support overall well-being, such as psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and attention to mind–body–environment connections.

Where are you located? Do you offer telehealth?

Arizona: 2 N Central Ave., Ste. 1800, Phoenix, AZ 85004.

Oregon: 555 SE MLK Blvd, Unit 105, Portland, OR 97214.

Remote/Virtual/Telehealth: Secure virtual appointments are available across Arizona and Oregon when clinically appropriate and allowed by state and payer rules.

Do you complete paperwork for FMLA, disability, or school?

I am happy to discuss potential accommodations based on your needs and level of impairment.

Paperwork such as FMLA, disability, or school forms is billed based on the time required to complete it, and any associated fees are explained in advance.

Do you provide psychotherapy?

Yes. Psychotherapy is an important part of treatment and can be integrated with medication management and other therapeutic approaches as appropriate.

How do I get started?

You can get started by requesting an appointment online or contacting the office directly.

We will briefly review your needs, then schedule an initial consultation and guide you through any intake steps.

Can you prescribe controlled medications via telemedicine?

In some cases, controlled medications may be prescribed via telemedicine when it is clinically appropriate and allowed by current federal and state regulations.

Because these rules can change, specific prescribing decisions are always made on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with the most current laws and professional standards.

How do we communicate between sessions?

Between sessions, brief questions or updates can be shared through secure messaging or by phone.

Response times and any fees for extended messaging or clinical time outside of visits are outlined in my practice policies and discussed with you ahead of time.
