Frequently asked questions
Do you take insurance?
I’m committed to providing personalized care, which is why I keep my insurance options selective. I currently accept Cigna (EverNorth) and Blue Cross Blue Shield (nationwide). If your insurance requires documentation, I can easily provide a SuperBill to help with reimbursement. Plus, I offer flexible payment options through CareCredit, with up to 24 months of interest-free financing (terms apply), making it easier to manage your care.
Do you accept FSA/HSA cards?
Yes, I accept FSA/HSA cards from major providers like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Amex. I’ll also provide a SuperBill that details the services provided, making it easy for you to submit for reimbursement.
Do you offer a fee sliding scale?
At this time, I do not offer a sliding scale, as it’s challenging to apply exceptions fairly to everyone. I strive to keep my rates consistent and transparent for all my patients.
Why work with you rather than my insurance?
Choosing to work with me means getting a personalized approach to your care that goes beyond what insurance typically covers. I use a combination of biological and psychological assessments—ranging from in-depth computer evaluations to specialized tests (GI, saliva, stool, urine) and genetic testing for more effective medication management. This allows us to create a truly customized treatment plan based on real data.
Together, we’ll build a strategy that addresses your unique needs and evolves with you. I’ll be by your side, using every available resource to support your long-term success.
Is a nurse practitioner the same as a psychiatrist?
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists both have the training and expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions with medication and psychotherapy. While our roles overlap, our training paths differ. Nurse Practitioners are trained under a nursing model, which emphasizes a holistic approach to care—focusing on the whole person, not just the condition. Psychiatrists follow a medical model, with a clinical focus on diagnosis and treatment. Both paths offer valuable expertise, and I respect the role of psychiatrists as key partners in mental health care.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I bring years of hands-on experience working with people in diverse settings, giving me a deep understanding of how to connect with patients and address their needs from all angles. This experience allows me to provide not just clinical care, but the empathy and compassion that are essential to supporting lasting change. I’m here to guide you through your journey, ensuring that the care you receive is both personalized and comprehensive.
Does integrative psychiatry mean that you prescribe supplements rather than medications?
Not at all! Integrative psychiatry is about combining the best of both worlds—evidence-based traditional treatments, like medications, with complementary approaches that support your overall well-being. This can include things like supplements, lifestyle changes, psychotherapy, and exploring the connections between your mind, body, and environment. While psychotropic medications are an important part of treatment, they’re just one tool in a broader, holistic approach to help you feel your best.

Do you complete FMLA or disability paperwork?
I am happy to discuss potential accommodations based on your needs and level of impairment. Please note that I charge $50 per 10 minutes to complete paperwork for FMLA, disability, school absences, or similar requests. This fee is outlined in my fees policy.
Why is a 15-minute consultation beneficial?
I’d like to learn about your life and what brings you here. This 15-minute consultation provides an opportunity for us to connect, determine if we’re a good fit, and discuss your mental health needs. It’s all about ensuring you feel comfortable and supported as we figure out the best way to move forward together.
What about reaching you between appointments?
I understand that things come up, and you may have questions between sessions. Here’s how we’ll stay in touch:
At your first appointment, I’ll provide contact info for simple follow-ups.
I typically respond to emails and calls within 1-3 business days.
If your concerns need more attention, we can schedule a time to meet.
For any discussions lasting over 15 minutes through protected electronic communication, there will be a charge of $50 per 10 minutes.
Is psychotherapy incorporated in the visit?
Absolutely. Psychotherapy is an important part of your treatment, along with any other integrative therapies we may recommend. Together, we’ll develop a comprehensive approach that aligns with your unique needs.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Spending a few minutes to touch base works well, so we can get a sense of your needs before we meet. After our brief conversation, I’ll guide you through scheduling your initial consultation. If you’re ready to move forward, you can also use this link to self-schedule. Or, feel free to reach out via the contact page to connect.
Do you prescribe controlled medications?
Yes, I can prescribe certain controlled medications via telemedicine in accordance with current laws, including the Ryan Haight Act and recent amendments. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued new regulations allowing for telemedicine prescribing without an in-person evaluation, under specific conditions.
I follow these guidelines carefully to ensure your treatment is both effective and in full compliance with the law.
For example, if you need a medication for ADHD or anxiety, we can discuss a treatment plan that works for you. If you’re seeking medication to treat opioid use disorder, I can prescribe buprenorphine via telemedicine under the new Buprenorphine Final Rule, which allows up to a six-month initial supply.
For more detailed information on these regulations, please visit DEA Special Registration and Buprenorphine Final Rule – January 2025.
Rest assured, all of these practices are aligned with the latest telemedicine and controlled substance laws, ensuring that your care is both safe and secure.
